Can I export a WhatsApp chat when Advanced Chat Privacy is enabled?

WhatsApp disables its native Export Chat command when Advanced Chat Privacy is enabled. MyChatWrap uses a different, user-initiated workflow: it formats messages already visible in the open WhatsApp Web conversation into a local TXT file. It does not switch off the privacy setting or access messages WhatsApp Web has not shown you.

Does the extension bypass WhatsApp Advanced Chat Privacy?

No. It does not disable, alter or circumvent WhatsApp settings. It can only read the conversation currently rendered for the signed-in participant after that participant explicitly starts the export.

Does the exported chat leave my browser?

No. The extension builds and downloads the TXT locally. It does not transmit chat text, names, phone numbers, attachments or the generated file to MyChatWrap or another party.

Does it work for WhatsApp group chats and personal chats?

Yes. It supports both one-to-one conversations and groups that you can open in WhatsApp Web, preserving recognized participants, timestamps, text, emoji and supported media placeholders.

Can it recover deleted, view-once or missing messages?

No. It cannot recover deleted, expired, hidden, view-once or unsynchronized content. The result is limited to messages WhatsApp Web makes available to your account and loads into the open conversation.

Can I analyze the exported TXT in MyChatWrap?

Yes. The downloaded TXT is formatted for MyChatWrap. After exporting, open MyChatWrap, choose the TXT and start the private browser-based analysis.

Why WhatsApp Export Chat disappears with Advanced Chat Privacy

WhatsApp’s official documentation says that people in a conversation cannot use the native chat-export feature while Advanced Chat Privacy is enabled. That is why repeatedly checking the mobile share panel, reinstalling WhatsApp or looking for a missing ZIP does not solve this specific case.

The MyChatWrap extension does not re-enable that command. After you deliberately start it, the extension walks backward through the conversation currently open in WhatsApp Web and formats the rendered messages into a text export. It can preserve content you can already see, but cannot retrieve content that is deleted, expired, hidden or unavailable to your account.
