A 7-by-24 heatmap
Each row represents a weekday and each column an hour. Cell intensity is relative to the busiest weekday-hour combination in that export.

A WhatsApp chat heatmap counts messages in 168 fixed time slots: seven weekdays by 24 hours. Darker cells represent more messages, and an exact-count view identifies the busiest combinations. MyChatWrap also totals activity by hour and weekday and can compare two participants' timing. It measures timestamps in the exported history; it does not show why somebody was online or available.
This fictional preview uses the same 7-by-24 grid and fixed time buckets as MyChatWrap. Exact counts accompany the color scale so the result does not depend on estimating a cell's darkness.

Each row represents a weekday and each column an hour. Cell intensity is relative to the busiest weekday-hour combination in that export.
Read the weekday, hour and message count behind non-empty cells instead of relying on color alone.
Combine all weekdays into 24 totals to find the busiest fixed hour across the exported history.
Combine all hours into seven raw weekday totals, with the exported date range and missing history kept in context.
For eligible two-person chats, compare each participant's message counts in the same hour and weekday buckets.
Use daily, weekly, monthly or yearly volume views to check whether a heatmap peak reflects the whole history or one active period.
Open the contact or group information, choose Export chat and save the .txt or .zip. Without media is normally enough for timing analysis.
Drop the file above. Your browser parses eligible senders and timestamps and counts them into the fixed activity buckets.
Start with the busiest combined slots, compare hour and weekday totals, then use the longer timeline for historical context.
Two minutes on your phone. Choose your device, follow the taps, then come back and add the file above.
Watch the whole flow β export from WhatsApp, then drop the file into this app.
Every parsed message with an attributable sender increments one of 24 hourly buckets, one of seven weekday buckets and one cell in a 7-by-24 matrix. System notices without a participant sender do not increment these counters. Parsed text, media placeholders and deleted-message markers can contribute because the heatmap measures message events rather than vocabulary.
The matrix uses Sunday through Saturday and fixed UTC hours from 00:00 through 23:00. Labels are localized for display without applying a second timezone conversion.
WhatsApp text exports normally contain wall-clock times but no authoritative timezone. MyChatWrap interprets those times using the analyzing device's local timezone and stores a stable timestamp; activity is then bucketed in UTC. A displayed hour can therefore differ from the raw export by the local UTC offset, and a message near midnight can move to an adjacent weekday.
The busiest cell is the weekday-hour combination with the most eligible messages in the selected export. The hourly chart counts messagesβnot distinct conversations, active minutes or time spent inside WhatsApp.
Raw weekday totals do not normalize for a file that begins or ends partway through a week. Compare the heatmap with the date range and messages-over-time view before treating one weekday as a durable habit.
Message timestamps can reveal recurring peaks, but they cannot show whether somebody was awake, working, travelling, online, expected to respond or paying attention to WhatsApp.
Treat the heatmap as a description of the available export, not evidence about somebody's routine, interest, effort or relationship quality.
MyChatWrap reads the exported history and calculates deterministic activity counts in your browser. Message text, participant names and the filename are not sent to or stored on the MyChatWrap server, and no account is required. A heatmap can still reveal routines, so treat saved results as private.
