How to create a WhatsApp Wrapped

1. Export a chat
Use WhatsApp's Export chat option and save the .txt or .zip file. Both individual and group exports are supported.
2. Add it to MyChatWrap
Drop the file above. The app parses the export and calculates the statistics used by the recap.
3. Choose and play
Open the all-time recap or pick a year or month with activity. Play the slideshow, revisit the summary and save the result if you want a copy.

What appears in the recap?

The exact slides depend on the data available in the export. A typical result includes the message total, words, active days, streak, busiest periods, top words, first message, participant leaderboards, badges and a relationship- or group-health card.

A metric is skipped when the chat does not contain enough valid data for it. That is more honest than filling every recap with a made-up superlative.

All time, one year or one month

WhatsApp Wrapped is not limited to December. If the export spans multiple years, you can replay the complete history or focus on one year. If it contains multiple active months, you can choose a single month for a smaller recap.

The chosen period changes the totals and leaderboards. It does not change the source file, so you can return to all time whenever you want.
