Total messages
Count every recognized parsed message event in the selected export.
Private WhatsApp chat size calculator
Measure how large an exported WhatsApp conversation is using meaningful chat statistics: parsed messages, words, participants, active days, date span and recognizable media events. This calculator describes conversation scale—not the storage bytes used by WhatsApp, a backup or your phone.

MyChatWrap defines chat size as a collection of measured dimensions rather than one opaque score: total parsed message events, whitespace-counted words in eligible text messages, recognized participants, distinct active days, first-to-last timestamp span and recognized message types such as images, videos and voice notes. It does not calculate database bytes, backup size or the disk space occupied by media files.
The preview combines the actual Overview StatCard and Chat in numbers components with fictional scale data.

Watch the whole flow — export from WhatsApp, then drop the file into this app.
A single message count misses whether a conversation contains short texts, long paragraphs or many media placeholders. File bytes are also dominated by attachments and compression rather than conversation volume.
Messages, words, participants, time span and active days together provide a clearer description without inventing a composite score.
Every successfully parsed entry contributes to total messages, including recognized text, media placeholders, deleted markers and supported system-style events according to the parser’s classification.
Message totals therefore are not the same as text-message totals. Use the type breakdown to see what the export contains.
Words are counted from eligible participant text by trimming content, splitting at whitespace and counting non-empty pieces. That is a reproducible token-like measure rather than linguistic interpretation.
Media statistics describe recognized exported events. They do not inspect every file’s pixels, audio duration or disk bytes, and omitted files cannot be reconstructed.
A ZIP containing years of videos can be huge even with relatively few messages, while a text-only export can contain tens of thousands of messages in a small file. This page measures the conversation represented by parsed records.
If you need storage usage, inspect the file or device settings separately. Do not treat these statistics as a backup-size estimate.
Standard import, parsing and deterministic analytics run in your browser. MyChatWrap does not connect to your WhatsApp account or store raw message content on its server. The selected import remains in that browser’s local app database until you remove it.
