Total occurrences
Count every matched pictographic occurrence in exported content. Three repeated emoji contribute three occurrences, not one message.

MyChatWrap scans text content in an exported chat and counts matching Unicode pictographic code points. It ranks up to 100 emoji overall and per participant, shows exact counts and can recalculate participant totals by week, month or year. The current method counts code points rather than every visible emoji as one combined symbol, so joined sequences, flags and keycaps have documented limitations.
This fictional preview uses the same matching and ranking rules as MyChatWrap. Exact numbers accompany the visual cloud because font size alone is not a precise or accessible count.

Count every matched pictographic occurrence in exported content. Three repeated emoji contribute three occurrences, not one message.
Keep up to 100 recurring emoji overall and per participant, sorted by frequency with exact counts.
Compare attributed occurrences and proportional shares while keeping each person's overall message volume in view.
Divide a participant's emoji count by their message count to separate usage rate from total conversation volume.
Recalculate participant counts by week, month or year; trend views require at least two populated periods.
Record the first parsed entry with the largest number of matched pictographic code points and its sender when available.
Open the chat information, choose Export chat and save the .txt or .zip. Without media is normally enough for text emoji statistics.
Drop the file above. Your browser scans available text, attributes matches to senders and builds overall and participant rankings.
Start with exact totals, then compare emoji per message and period history. Use the cloud for discovery and numbers for precision.
Two minutes on your phone. Choose your device, follow the taps, then come back and add the file above.
Watch the whole flow — export from WhatsApp, then drop the file into this app.
MyChatWrap applies JavaScript's Unicode Extended_Pictographic property to each parsed entry with content. Every match increments the chat total; matches in entries with a sender also increment that participant's total and the participant and overall frequency rankings.
The method matches code points rather than full grapheme clusters. A toned thumbs-up contributes the base 👍, a heart with variation selector contributes ❤, and joined sequences are split into pictographic components—for example, 👩💻 contributes 👩 and 💻. Regional-indicator flags and keycap sequences are not matched by the current expression.
Rankings retain at most 100 distinct matches. Senderless content can increase the chat-wide total but is not added to participant or overall-cloud frequency maps. Stickers, GIFs, images and voice notes do not become emoji unless their exported text placeholder itself contains a matching symbol.
The comparison shows exact totals and top emoji for each participant, while cloud size uses a square-root scale so one frequent symbol does not make every other item unreadable. Hiding an item changes only the view, not stored counts.
The history view analyzes each week, month or year from its own messages and omits empty periods. The first-appearance record is the first matching emoji visible in the selected export, not necessarily the first ever sent in the real conversation.
Frequency cannot determine whether an emoji was sincere, sarcastic, quoted, negative, affectionate or directed at a particular person.
A separate optional mood proxy uses a small curated positive and negative set and ignores most emoji. It is not sentiment analysis and should not be confused with the complete Emoji Counter total.
MyChatWrap reads the export and calculates standard emoji statistics in your browser. Message text, participant names and the filename are not sent to or stored on the MyChatWrap server, and no account is required.
