Chrome Extension Privacy Policy

The MyChatWrap WhatsApp Web Exporter creates a text export from the personal or group conversation the user has deliberately opened in WhatsApp Web. It reads only messages and related message metadata that WhatsApp Web makes visible to that participant.

The extension cannot recover deleted, expired, hidden, view-once, or unsynchronized content that WhatsApp Web does not provide. Media files are not downloaded; where available, they are represented by compatible media-type placeholders in the text export.

To provide the export requested by the user, the extension temporarily handles visible message text, timestamps, participant display names or phone-number fallbacks, and media type labels from the currently open WhatsApp Web conversation.

This information is personal communication data. It is used solely to assemble the local export and show export progress. The extension does not use chat content for advertising, profiling, model training, or any unrelated purpose.

Conversation extraction and text-file generation occur locally inside the user's browser. The extension does not transmit chat content, participant identities, phone numbers, attachments, or the generated export to MyChatWrap's servers or any third party.

Temporary export data is held in the active WhatsApp Web tab's memory. It is discarded when the tab is closed or reloaded, or when a new export replaces it.

After an export, the user may explicitly choose “Analyze privately on MyChatWrap”. The extension then opens MyChatWrap's import page and passes the export to that page inside the same browser, where it is parsed locally, just like a file the user selects by hand. It is not uploaded. Until the page claims it, the export is held in the extension's memory under a single-use token and discarded after five minutes. The destination URL identifies the Chrome extension as the traffic source and carries that token, but contains no message content, participant information, chat identifier, or exported file data. Website analytics and cookie choices are governed by the main MyChatWrap Privacy Policy.

The extension requests access to https://web.whatsapp.com/* so it can provide its user-facing export feature, and to https://mychatwrap.com/* so its import page can receive an export the user chooses to analyze. It does not read unrelated browsing history or operate on unrelated websites.

Exporting begins only after the user opens the extension, accepts the local-processing disclosure, and clicks the start button. Downloading the result or opening MyChatWrap also requires an explicit user action.

Users should export only conversations they participate in and are legally and ethically permitted to preserve. MyChatWrap does not encourage covert collection or attempts to access content unavailable to the user.

The use of information received through the extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data access is limited to the extension's single purpose of producing the export requested by the user.
